The Vital Seven

This is a versatile spread that is especially well suited to dealing with open questions. It can even be used where there is no specific question, when a reader simply wants to step back and explore their current situation, and psyche, in general. (This makes it a perfect first spread for Psycards newbies.)

The Inquirer is deliberately placed in the centre, face up. (The remaining cards are all initially placed face down.) The pack is shuffled: the 1st card is placed to the left of the Inquirer, the 2nd to the bottom left, the 3rd to the top left, the 4th to the bottom right, the 5th to the top right and the 6th to the direct right of the Inquirer. The cards are then turned around, one by one, in the order they were placed.

The cards to the left of the Inquirer represent the past, with the ones to the right representing the future. The two cards below the Inquirer represent unconscious forces, whilst the two above represent conscious aspirations.
